Working Statement
Version 4: August 2008

Brooklyn based artist John Mitchell is visualizing an alien world of the imagination through drawing, printmaking, model building, and painting.

Visualization begins with improvisational drawings, design studies and building plans. These initial 2D elements serve as reference material for more refined drawings, etchings, and elaborate 3D models.

All of this research is the foundation for John’s painting and though the paintings are representational, every element is an artifact of his imagination.
